The Spanish 6/49 is one of the most popular lottery games in Spain. Regular draws are held at 9.30pm (GMT+1) every Thursday and Saturday.
You need six winning numbers from a drum of 1-49 and the Reintegro, chosen from a guess range from 0-9, to take home the jackpot.
The Spanish 6/49 was begun by royal initiative, suggested by Carlos III's Minister for Tax, the Marques of Esquilache to raise funds for the Spanish treasury in 1763. When it began, the game featured 90 numbers, of which five would be selected at random.
In 1812 the Spanish 6/49 fell out of favour with players and was discontinued in 1862. The game was eventually re-introduced in 1985 under the operation of Loterias y Apuestas del Estado, part of the Spanish Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations. When the game was reintroduced the format also changed to the 6/49 lottery game we play today.
How to Play
To play the Spanish 6/49 choose 6 standard numbers from 1 – 49 and 1 ‘Reintegro Number’ from 0 - 9.
